MEXICAN FILM MOVES JAPAN
Tokyo, Japan _ The Mexican film Parpados azules (Blue Eyelids) directed by Ernesto Contreras and starring Enrique Arreola and Cecilia Suarez was well received by the Japanese movie public at Tokyo’s 20th International Film Festival. Media reports boosted the film’s potential for following Mexican film Amores perros (2004) and the Uraguayan (2000) and winning best film award. Japanese audiences have taken to Latino actors as evidenced by eight of them winning awards over the years. This festival participation comes on the heels of Parpados azules winning the Guadalajara Film Festival.
