Guatemala City, Guatemala, _ With nearly 70 % of the votes counted Sunday night center-left Alvaro Colom held a 10% lead over rival Otto Perez Molina who was the runner up in September’s first round. He and his running mate Rafael Espada of the National Hope Unity Party ran on a platform focused on poverty issues. Final tallies should be available later today. If the trend continues Colom and Espada are to be congratulated with good luck wishes on the daunting challenges they will face.

**UPDATE**-  Colom has won.
