CHESPIRITO SON OF YUCATAN HONORED FOR LIFE OF COMEDY
Merida, Yucatan,_ Last weekend Governor Ivonne Ortega Pacheco recognized the legendary Mexican comedian Roberto Gomez Bolanos, “Chespirito”, for his long and disguished national television career. The presentation took place at the Merida Theater and was called an “act of recognition and appreciation.” The honored creator of “El Chavo del 8″ also performed for the 466th anniversary of the founding of Yucateca.
Governor Ortega Pacheco lauded Chesperito for the many wonderful moments he had given to generations of Yucatecos who love him and his talent. His emotional acknowledgement speech included a line about “there are many years still left in Roberto Gomez.” In handing him a replica of the Chichen Itza pyramid the governor said, “one marvel to another marvel.” That is when he announced that Chesperitos years are very near their last act. He will be 79 years old at the end of this month.
