Richardson timing working for Obama
Salem, Oregon,_ Bill Richardson let it be known that his courtesy call to Hillary Clinton to inform her of his Obama endorsement was laced with heated words. Their relationship goes a long ways back so it must have been a tough call.
Now that he is on board with Obama it looks like he will play a role in getting Latinos on board the bandwagon. He can just about hear “California here I come,” playing in Denver soon.
Richardson’s endorsement will be a test of Obama’s perceived and real Latino problem. At least he had trouble getting over a third of their support in earlier states. Richardson, though Latino, had a difficult time informing Latinos that he is Latino during his own run for the presidency. Oregon, like other states, is gearing up for record turnouts among the 110,000 eligible Latinos in their primary election. It’s a step in the right direction for Obama who is expected to clinch the Democratic nomination in the weeks ahead.
