Carville v. Richardson Round III – Charges of idiocy and lunacy
New York, NY.,_ In the first two rounds political strategist and Clinton supporter James Carville called New Mexico’s governor’s endorsement of Barack Obama “an act of treason” and since it was Easter week likened him to Judas.
Then Richardson came back to say he was not going into the gutter with the Clinton mud wrestler.
This week on Larry King live the two were placed face to face on screen. Carville owned up to his statement as “quoted accurately, in context and as an appropriate metaphor. If it was the fourth of July I would have said Benedict Arnold. I don’t take a word of it back.”
Richardson countered with
“it’s typical of the Clinton people who think they have a dynasty and a claim to the throne.”
Carville said Richardson is the only Obama supporter he has criticized because Richardson had made representations to people. Richardson said he had been close to endorsing Clinton, especially when President Clinton was at his persuasive best in the governor’s home watching this year’s Super Bowl. All that changed he said when the 3 am ad ran and he became convinced Obama was the best leader for the country.
At one point in the interview Richardson again said the Clintons are clinging to the throne and Carville shot back,
“I don’t know how to address this kind of idiocy; people are voting and will continue to vote. That is idiotic” and that Obama is hiding from debates and whining about them. When he added that if you add up Florida and Michigan’s votes Hillary Clinton is winning the popular election, that’s when Richardson countered, “That is lunacy. I don’t know where James is getting that.” Look forward to Round IV.
