MLB players you don’t want to pitch to.

ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark set out to find the most feard hitter in baseball and this is what he found -

We polled all 30 big league managers on that subject this week. By the time we’d surveyed them all, 20 different names had come up.

One of those names, however, came up way more than anyone else. That was Albert Pujols. Pujols blew out the field in the National League. But the American League was such a free-for-all, we had to go outside the managerial sphere and survey a half-dozen scouts and executives just to see if we could get a consensus. And when we’d finished, it was still, essentially, a four-way tie, among Alex Rodriguez, Vladimir Guerrero, David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez (none of whom, by the way, has as many intentional walks this year as Raul Ibanez or A.J. Pierzynski).

It’s interesting and encouraging that many of the players on this list are Latinos. Including the top 5. Here is the full list of his “the All-Guys You’d Least Want to Pitch to Team”

  • Albert Pujols
  • Vladimir Guerrero
  • Alex Rodriguez
  • Manny Ramirez
  • David Ortiz
  • Ichiro Suzuki
  • Chase Utley
  • Chipper Jones
  • Derek Lee

Other notable players include, Magglio Ordonez, Hanley Ramirez, Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez. I guess the Latin influence on the game is the reason that teams such as the San Diego Padres host Latino themed nights. Tomorrow night will be “La Noche de Apertura Mexicana” as the Padres take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
