Congressional Hispanics call House leaders “spineless”

Washington, DC.,_ This week the Congressional Hispanic Caucus charged their party counterparts with being as bad on immigration as House Republicans due to their inaction and failure to support immigration reform. While refusing to schedule hearings on reform the Dems congressional leaders have scheduled to hear immigration enforcement bills. There are 24 Latino Democrats in the congress and they made no bones about how they feel about their party’s weak leadership.

There stand is simple – nothing short of comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for the 12 million hard working, undocumented workers and American economy stalwarts will do.

Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva called fellow Democrats “spineless”, while fiery caucus leader Joe Baca from California said the bills now being heard are “band aids being used to cover a gaping wound”.

Illinois’ Luis Gutierrez added that, “my party wants to do what is easy, not what is right.”
