Delgado doesn’t think it was a “snub”
A few days ago Carlos Delgado, who has been struggling through this season, hit his second home run in a game against the Atlanta Braves. AS the crowd stood and cheered the feet everyone expected Delgado to come out and wave his little hat. The only problem is that Delgado didn’t agree the feat deserved a “curtain call” so naturally he never came.
“There are moments and there are moments,” Delgado said before the game was rained out Monday. “I didn’t think this was a moment.”
A simple yet, perfectly explained explanation. Playing in the spotlight of the New York media the significance of this so called “snub” has been blown out of proportion.
As Delgado later stated it was a solo shot in the 7th inning of a game the team was already winning, not exactly a curtain call type of shot.
Another reason I don’t think this is such a big deal is because the Mets’ fans deserve to be slighted. If you boo a player on your own team when he is down and then jump back on the bandwagon once he turns it around, you deserve to be treated the way you treated him in the first place.
Delgado is correct, he didn’t do anything outstanding, so the feat was not worthy of a curtain call.
These young fans of today are simply too noisy.
They boo at anything, cheer at anything.
Also it was almost like mocking the guy for being in a long slump, that they booed constantly. It was like saying, “It’s about time, you bum”
