California superdelegate calls out Clinton and Obama
Fresno, Ca.,_ At this weekend’s California Democratic Council convention the presidential race was the talk of most conversations along with what will the California Superdelegates do in terms of making and/or keeping their choices. They ranged from several who said they would go with the winner (at least a few who are with Clinton but said they would crossover if she did not close on Obama) to those like long time NAACP leader Alice Huffman who said she was staying by her choice and would change her mind when Hillary Clinton changes her own.
The ever interesting and hard core Democrat, attorney Steven Ybarra from Sacramento said he would likely remain uncommitted through the convention without voting for either candidate. Ybarra steadfastly maintains and promotes that he will not endorse until the candidates and the party conceive real plans with a real price tag and budget for reaching Latino voters. Ybarra tells anyone who will listen that his party lost the last two elections because they failed to make the same outreach efforts to Latinos that they make to African Americans. Ybarra will only be more sought after for his vote and opinion the longer the nomination fight drags on between Obama and Clinton. You can bet your bottom dollar that Juan Hernandez, who was brought on by John McCain will not have to battle with the Republicans for budget and positioning plans for reaching Latinos. Therein may lie the difference. We applaud Ybarra’s stand and look for other Latinos to take a stand and not Winnie out in Denver. It’s about the future and our families!
