North Carolina and Indiana telling time
By late tonight we should be hearing that Barack won North Carolina by a handful of percentage points and that Hillary beat him in Indiana by a small margin. It is fast becoming time for the Superdelegates to step up and account for themselves. Howard Dean wants the race to wind up before the end of June. That’s fine but he and his party leaders have a lot of work to do to pull the party together. The one constant for them is that even if Obama somehow lost the nomination, which we believe is not likely, is that black voters are always the most loyal Democrats. Both camps will be packing and heading to West Virginia by the morning, but even if she miraculously runs the rest of the table Hillary Clinton can’t win, but she is still in the game and party leaders are not about to discourage her or urge her to step aside for the good of the order. While the skirmishing goes on party insiders are busy working on framing the general election strategy and preparing attacks on John McCain.
