Washington, DC,_ John McCain is enjoying a spring vacation compared to his likely November rival Barack Obama. While McCain is trying to secure his Republican conservative base who still have trust issues with him Obama is still trying to seal the deal as the Dems nominee. He came a step closer in Indiana and North Carolina but Hillary Clinton is still nipping at him in a valiant and equally desperate two minute drill in a losing cause. McCain launched his Spanish language website this week as part of an effort to harness 30 – 40% of the Latino vote. Though he had a credible record in Arizona and on national Latino issues he belied himself during the primary season and has been called a flip flopper on his own immigration reform bill. McCain, like any politician, now has to walk a tightrope between his own anti Latino/immigrant party core and the same Hispanic voters he will be wooing to vote for him. His personal dual third rails will be to satisfy both sides of the border security and guest worker issues at the same time. A tough act to carry out, pero quien sabe, maybe he can work this magic. We would love to give him the benefit of the doubt but his flip flopping actions call it into question.
