Chicago, Ill,_ The Barack Obama campaign added former Senator and Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern to its rolls this week.
In changing from Clinton to Obama the 1972 Dem nominee said it was impossible for Clinton to win at this point and that he had called former President Bill Clinton to inform him of his decision to endorse Obama.
Of the Clintons he said, “I will hold them in affection for all of my days. She has run a valiant campaign and she will remain an influential voice in the American future.” The 85 year old icon said of Obama, “by any practical test he has won the nomination. Hillary will make the decision as to if and when she ends her campaign but I hope that she reaches that decision soon so we can concentrate on a unified party capable of winning the White House next November.
