Cesar Chavez Study Act signed into law
Washington, DC.,_ A bill introduced by Senators Ken Salazar, D-Colorado and John McCain, R-Arizona and by Congresswoman Hilda Solis, D-California in the House of Representatives has been enacted.
The authorization gives the U.S. Department of Interior to study sites important in the life of Cesar Chavez for possible inclusion in the National Parks System.
The Cesar Estrada Chavez Act was part of an omnibus parks bill that contained legislation dealing with various public land and national park issues. Cesar’s family and especially his grandchildren who represent his special legacy are very pleased that this legislation will lead to more interest and discovery of their father and grandfather’s life. His widow, Helen Chavez, is very proud to hear of another distinctive recognition for her husband’s contribution to the United States, the poor working people he represented so well and the millions he influenced and inspired.
