Senator Ken Salazar on Obama VP List

Denver, Co.,_ As Barack Obama begins to deliberate his choice for VP there are many names being mentioned.

Among them is a solid Latino choice, Ken Salazar who along with Bill Richardson would make two Hispanic’s up for consideration. Salazar just sponsored, along with John McCain and others, the successful Cesar Chavez Study Act and is a hit with Latinos and other voters and is a former Attorney General.

His state will be hosting the Democratic convention this summer and it’s a bigger plum than New Mexico. Obama’s top 15 is said to include Senator Jim Webb of Virginia, Governors Janet Sebelius of Kansas, Richardson, Brian Schweitzer of Montana, Ted Strickland of Ohio, General Wesley Clark and Colin Powell.

While it would be great to have Salazar or Richardson on the ticket that may still be a ways off but the consideration is part of the progress Latinos are making, especially in this election year. Webb, whose military record matches McCain’s, is said to be the early frontrunner.
