Last Hurrah will be a hooray for Hillary
Charlston, WVa.,_ Hillary Clinton is going to make Yogi Berra look bad and if he were around today she would make Vince Lombardi very proud of her. In Yogi’s case his “the game ain’t over til it’s over” will now go into extra innings thanks to Hillary’s inability to say “die”.
Lombardi would chuckle if or when she finally says, “we did not lose we just ran out of time.” Out of time or out of runway Hillary is going to go down blazing. She may or may not have a long term negative impact on her party’s nominee, Senator Barack Obama.
At some point in the weeks and days leading up to the Democratic convention in Denver and the November election her Donya Quixote quest will rightly or wrongly come to an end. She is on fire in West Virginia and had her campaign done the same dogged campaigning day and night in the earlier and smaller states Obama would not have outflanked her with his crack ground troops who bested her in nearly every caucus state vote, including Nevada where she claimed victory even though he bested her 13-12 in the delegate count.
Hillary woulda been a helluva president until her campaign sputtered in mid stream leaving her up the proverbial creek with no more paddles. When her campaign finally runs out of money and lets off enough steam to give itself a rest she can become a more highly treasured Democrat with perhaps one more shot at the top job, even though the unwritten rules say she won’t be welcomed to it. Her brightest election spots will be the relationship and bond she built with Latinos over a long and distinguished political career. Her George McGovern campaigning in South Texas had a long shelf life but even good ol’ George gracefully waltzed away from her and into Obama’s direction and camp. Adios Hillary – you made Latinos proud and you showed your Latinoness with your courageous, but late, efforts!
