North Carolina CC’s ban undocumented students
Raleigh, NC,_ Another first low was reached in America’s south as this week’s report by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities informed that this state’s community college system became the first to ban undocumented immigrants from attending their classes to obtain a college degree.
The sudden and foolish decision by the state body was a shocking development. It came as a recommendation from the state attorney general Roy Cooper. College system President Scott Ralls said the ban would be imposed and take effect immediately.
Reportedly the AG’s office cited a federal statute that bans such immigrants from receiving any form of state benefits. To their credit North Carolina Governor Mike Easley and UNC President Erskine Bowles took issue with the lower college system’s decision. Their criticism was joined by immigration advocates who have depicted such proposals and actions as insensitive and prejudiced. The south seems to be working hard to reignite its worst habits and its worst reputation. Even the federal ICE department’s only comment was that the decision was up to the state system. As the immigration issue is fading as a national campaign focus this is a reminder that it’s really just now starting to heat up on some levels. The same dummies who seem to think its okay to marry your cousin believe its also okay not to allow people whose services and products they enjoy utilizing and getting on the cheap to be educated and find the pursuit of happiness.
Hurry for N.C!
There is no reason the state tax payers should have to help support illegals.
If they want to attend college, leave the country and enter legally.
I would hope that this spreads to as many other states and services as possible. Actions like this can help to stop making the US such a safe haven for illegals.
Fungi? Yes you are a fungus who helps to make this world a better place… Or the exact opposite. Loser
And “Hurry for N.C.?” why do you need to Hurry, is the state leaving or something?
