Latina Republicans a reality
Stockton, Ca.,_ As far fetched as it may seem the Stockton Record this week reported on a meeting of Latina United Republican Women.
The group has organized around getting Republicans, especially John McCain, elected to offices in November. This may be the forerunner of such groups to come and a reminder to the Democrats that Latinos on every side of the spectrum are arming themselves to become part of the decision makers on both sides of the aisle.
The group’s founder Carol Trujillo-Hadley founded the organization six years ago. Their membership numbers 25 enrolled members and about the same number of associate members. While we are on the other side of the aisle at once we commend these ladies for organizing themselves and warn them to watch their backs and their immigrant relatives whom their party leadership, except for McCain, has and continues to preach a message against at every turn of this campaign. That is a weird prospect and suggests Republican Latinas use their influence to convince and persuade their party’s anti Latino element to back off.
Their featured speaker this week gave them tips on spin, political speeches and messaging, attacking opponent’s weaknesses, internet influence and blogging.
