Ronaldinho needs to leave Barcelona
That is the sentiment from club president Joan Laporta.
‘He (Ronaldinho) needs a new challenge. When a cycle finishes it is normal that the most emblematic pieces also come to an end,’ Laporta told Catalan television station TV3 on Sunday night.
‘I would like Ronaldinho to be given a great send-off so that he is remembered for all he has given us and that if he didn’t do any more it was because the circumstances wouldn’t allow it.’
That may be true and we will see next season how well the Brazilian plays, most likely at Serie A side AC Milan. The players brother and agent said they had agreed to contract terms with the Italian side on a personal agreement but AC Milan and Barca still need to come together on a fee for the former World Player of the Year. Whatever they sell him for hopefully it is enough to bring in some top quality players to take his place. Barcelona, who played most of the season without Ronaldinho and Portuguese play maker Deco, are in dire need of a facilitator who can create for others. If Eto’o and Henry come back next season they need someone to feed them the ball in order to do what they do best. Messi can create but mostly only for himself, and sometimes when he creates a chance for someone else he still won’t pass. On the current roster Gio Dos Santos appears to have the best mindset but may still be a year or two away from being the major channel for a teams offense. Of course that may not matter anyways as the young Mexican is among numerous players who are rumored to be on the move after the second straight disappointing season in Catalonia.
Lionel Messi has a differente opinion on the subject, Messi wants Ronaldinho to stay and some in Milan don’t think they need him.
