Dancing with the stars final night – Kristi or Cristian?
Los Angeles, Ca.,_ As Bruno might say “this night belonged to the stars” as Kristi Yamaguchi, Cristian de la Fuente, Jason Taylor and their talented partners and dance floor leaders carried them to new heights heading into tonight’s champion being crowned.
Yamaguchi who has been the leader since this show began is favored to win it all. But you never know – remember Emmitt Smith won over a much more talented Mario Lopez due to his football celebrity.
Tonight the footballer, Jason Taylor, should not have a chance to catch Kristi, but depending on the Latino call in vote Cristian de la Fuente should come in a strong second or possibly sneak by the former ice skater.
As has been the case all along Cristian gets high praise from the judges but lower marks – where is MALDEF and LULAC when we need them J. The cha cha face off was a great innovation with all three couples dancing to parts of the same song – in a continuing and very entertaining routine. On the floor were personality, power and total package and they did not disappoint.
First out were Cristian and Cheryl who wowed the audience in their matching purple outfits moving to the words “what a feeling when we’re dancing on the ceiling.” LEL saw this one as Cristian’s hottest dance where he showed confidence and flare. He was “back home” with the cha cha.
Jason and Edyta followed and did well though he once again slipped up a few times showing his non Latino side. Lenny’s comments about the three, “Cristian, all the gear in the rear”, Jason “good technique” and Kristi “the complete package”. While Bruno said, “Cristian so exciting,” “always imposing presence Jason,” “Kristi in a class of your own.”

Cristian missed his usual opportunity to speak to the audience in Spanish and that will cost him some Latino emotion and votes. In the freestyle Kristi again ran away with three 10’s, Jason was too big for slick moves (but Edyta was a champion in her first finals). Cristian and Cheryl were hot dancing to “suavemente” as they opened where they left off last week with some serious bun shaking moves. No matter what happens tonight, he is this season’s Latino champion! As Bruno said, “you showed your Latin spirit and fire, you are a true Latin stallion.” Carrie added, “in you we see a winner in so many ways.”
