Hispanic Congressional Caucus picking up the pace
Washington, DC.,_ In moves that are called for and invaluable to the Latino quest for equality and equal treatment under all laws the Latinos in congress again and again are stepping up and being counted. The latest outburst of leadership by the group was to call the federal government on its “inhumane” immigration raids that includes rounding up U.S. citizens because they look un-American. Congressman Joe Baca who is chairman of the caucus called the ICE agency for its shameless tearing apart of families. “It’s not ICE’s job to intimidate individuals, humiliate individuals or to leave hundreds of children without parents,” he told a capital press conference. He was responding to the recent ICE raid in Postville, Iowa, at the Agriprocessors meat packing company where 389 workers were arrested. After the raid ICE spokesmen argued that their raids are conducted “lawfully, professionally and humanely.” He went on to say the agency is fulfilling its commitment to Homeland Security. This guy needs to see 911 again and learn that immigrants who feed, clothe and house him and much of the country are not terrorists.
