ICE men cometh to El Balazo taqueria
San Francisco, Ca.,_ In its continuing folly of stricter immigration enforcement ICE agents raided a popular Bay Area taqueria chain, El Balazo. The Sacramento Bee reports that after the May 2 raids (hard to picture armed federal agents up against heavily disarmed cooks and fast food workers) that resulted in 63 employees being “swept” away by the brave agents, the restaurants are back on track. In the aftermath of the raid every workplace that employs the hardest workers in valued jobs are on watch for the ICE men. The Bee went on to report that the ICE men who cometh have increased their raids tenfold in the last five years. Virtually every thinking person knows the raids will not solve a situation caused by our country’s hunger for low wage workers. We can only hope and expect that a new president (like say Barack Obama) will make the changes needed to stabilize the workforce and give them normal lives and a path to the citizenship they work hard for every single day. But if that were to happen how in the world would ICE do its part in saving us from food and dishwasher teroristas.
