Curtain dropping on Democratic primary race
Washington, DC,_ The longest, earliest, costliest and most competitive primary race ever is nearing the finish line.
South Dakota and Montana will wind up the season at least as far as the Barack Obama Campaign can see. Hillary Clinton’s campaign is as ready as ever but in retrospect should have done their two minute drill in the first half when they were ahead.
The second half of state after state Hail Mary’s has the party faithful all prayed out. Barack Obama is nearing the delegate total needed for the nomination but the Clintons are still working hard to stop the inevitability that once belonged to them. Democrats have lots of preparation to do if they intend to beat John McCain who will be no slouch and whose party will rally behind him with all they’ve got to keep Barack Obama from getting the keys to the White House. Latinos will have a say in Denver and in November but the key factor is how much will Democrats spend and how badly does Obama want and need the Latino vote. McCain is off to a great start even though he has yet to come face to face with his old v. new immigration stance. This has been an exciting and fun race to cover. The fall will be an all out sprint and war.
