Roland Martin wins prize for linking Dr. King’s dream day to Obama’s dream night

CNN, USA,_ On the night that America made history with the first ever nomination of an African American for President of the United States CNN and radio talk show host Roland Martin came up with the gem of the night.

He told his fellow panelists that he was “holding onto this one for months.” Martin went on to note that when Barack Obama takes the stage in Denver on August 29 of this year it will be exactly 45 years to the day of Dr. King’s famed and revered “I have a dream” speech. That footnote will surely be part of Obama’s message just as Reverand Jessie Jackson pointed out that “I am overwhelmed with emotion. I wish Dr. King, Medgar (Evers) and the other martyrs of the movement were here to share it. All America has reason to rejoice tonight.”

Roland Martin always has interesting insights on politics but this one was all about an idea whose time has come and a dream well worth living.
