Early polls show Latinos favoring Obama over McCain

Washington, DC,_ It looks like Barack Obama enjoys a strong lead over rival John McCain but at this early juncture don’t take it to the bank. While debates are on going as to whether he can win the Latino vote without Hillary Clinton the real decisions will come behind what genuine efforts and resources are “poured” into the Latino market including Spanish language advertising and paid efforts to go with an effective volunteer grassroots push by both sides.

The other piece that has mostly been missing from both campaigns is good and steady communication and connections with the Hispanic media. Both party’s need to tee up their best Spanish language/Latino media guide and relationships because in the primaries neither was stellar in this regard.

Obama has the natural party edge at the moment and is expected to garner good support from Latinos. However for McCain to “win” the Latino vote and key battleground states he needs to cross 40% with Latinos as President Bush did in 2004 to be successful. The next weeks will determine who is properly preparing to prevent poor performance among the surging Latino voter movement.
