Ronaldo to decide in a few days
Cristiano Ronaldo will decide on his playing future in the next few days. After his Portugal side were dismantled by a better German squad, the World’s top player can now focus on which club he would like to play for next season. The two front runners are of course Manchester United, his current club, and Real Madrid from Spain. Real is the richest club team in the world and probably have enough money to make an offer Man U can’t refuse.
‘In two or three days’ time I will announce my future because the tournament is over for me,’ he said in Portuguese after the game.
‘I have to speak to Manchester United and we will see. I will talk to them and see what happens.’ He told reporters: ‘Everyone knows what I want but in the next two or three days you’ll have something new.’ Asked about a move to Madrid, Ronaldo replied: ‘The possibilities to go are great, but as I have always said it doesn’t always depend on me. ‘I have many desires and in the next few days they will become clear.’
As much as I hate to see him play for los blancos, it seems pretty clear that that is where his “desires” would lead him. Teaming the world’s best with Spain’s best club side from last year seems a pretty dangerous combination. If the squad can come together and ego’s don’t get in the way the team can only be better. Hopefully Barcelona takes a cue from this and brings in some high quality players of their own (David Villa perhaps?). Weather or not Barcelona add any attacking players there will always be the threat of ego for Real Madrid. Hopefully Van Nistelrooy, Robinho and Ronaldo all fight to the death and then Real won’t be any good.
However SkySports.com is reporting that Manchester United still insist that Ronaldo is not for sale -
“Further to Friday’s press speculation about where Cristiano Ronaldo’s future lies, the club has moved to reiterate its stance on the matter: United are not listening to offers.
“Ronaldo has continually been linked with a move to Spanish side Real Madrid this summer.
“But the club reaffirmed to ManUtd.com on Friday morning that the 23-year-old United star is “not for sale”.”
I guess we will just have to wait and see.
